Discover the recent strides made by the EFFECTIVE project as it took the spotlight at the EU Research & Innovation session on effective marine management. Held under the esteemed Horizon Europe Mission Ocean Work Programme, this session focused on the impactful EU Blue Parks projects shaping the future of marine conservation. 

During the event, Iván Felis, Head of the R&D department at CTN-Marine Technology Centre, Spain, presented the EFFECTIVE project, shedding light on its innovative approach to marine conservation and restoration. The session provided a platform to showcase the project’s contributions to the Horizon Europe Mission Ocean Work Programme and its alignment with the overarching goals of effective marine management. 

The workshop served as a dynamic forum for experts and stakeholders to converge and explore the nuances of managing EU Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), including the critical coastal zones and the dynamic land-sea interfaces. Through illuminating presentations, real-world case studies, and interactive discussions, participants deepened their understanding of the challenges and opportunities in marine and coastal biodiversity protection and restoration. 

Attendees gained insights into key EU funded projects and research innovations driving effective marine management. Furthermore, the workshop provided a platform to discuss policy development needs and explore participatory approaches from EU Member States, regional, and local stakeholders.
