Exploring the Possibilities of Citizen Science: EFFECTIVE Citizen Science Workshop 2024

In a workshop on January 16, 2024, the EFFECTIVE consortium embarked on a transformative journey into the realm of Citizen Science, led by our partner, SPOTTERON. 

Discovering the SPOTTERON Platform: A Gateway to Innovation  

Exploring the versatile SPOTTERON platform (www.spotteron.net), EFFECTIVE delved into its multifaceted features. From citizen engagement to community building, observations, and location monitoring, to data administration – the possibilities were as vast as the ocean itself. 

The workshop served as a hub of creativity as we collectively brainstormed data requirements, shared innovative ideas, and posed pivotal follow-up questions. Discussions centered around country-based data access and the rich array of communication and community tools within our grasp. 

This collaborative endeavor laid the foundation for the production of EFFECTIVE’s Citizen Science App (mockup shown in the photo below). From concept to dissemination, the workshop illuminated the path toward harnessing the collective power of observation for a more informed and sustainable future.
